New way into the certification: Core training, your schedule

I know you've heard me talk about the Maternal Ecopsychology Certification. This is different.

The live spring cohort has closed. I'm now offering the core instructional training as a self-paced certification for those who want the depth of the program on their own schedule.

What's included:

20 video lessons where I break down my original peer-reviewed research on maternal ecodistress, matrescence, ecofeminist psychology, and nature-based therapeutic practice. 18 academic readings. Written feedback from me on every module. You move at your own pace. You have up to a year to complete it.

24 NBCC continuing education hours. Many state boards also accept NBCC-approved credits for social workers, marriage and family therapists, and other licensed mental health professionals. Not sure if yours does? Reply and I'll help you find out.

The new price is $1,497. Payment plans available at 6, 9, or 12 months.

I wanted to make this accessible to the professionals who need it most.

Here's what this training actually does:

Mothers keep showing up in clinical spaces saying some version of "I know I shouldn't be this anxious." They've been told their worry is disproportionate. That it's a symptom to manage rather than a signal to listen to.

This certification teaches you to hear that differently. To recognize maternal ecodistress as ecological intelligence rather than pathology. To hold what mothers are carrying without flattening it into a diagnosis.

If you work with mothers in any capacity, this will change how you listen.

From practitioners who've done this work:

"This training is not just knowledge. It is an invitation into a movement, a deeper way of seeing and being in the world." Izabella Naomi Pedersen, Environmental Technologist & Postpartum Counselor, Denmark

"This program has deepened my understanding of eco-resilience and how honoring the lived experiences of mothers can be powerful catalysts for personal and collective healing." Ana María Cañas, Regenerative Agriculture & Community Health Practitioner, Colombia

"The course expertly combined insightful theoretical aspects with practical strategies I could immediately integrate into my therapeutic practice." Dr. Haya Zedan, Therapist, Wellness Educator, & Doula, Saudi Arabia

This is the training I wish existed when I started this work. Now it does, and I'd love for you to be part of it.

This is the last time I'll be writing about the certification for a while. If you've been considering it, now's a good time to start. I'd love to be reading your work this spring.

Talking Maternal Ecodistress and Matrescence with Dr. Kat on Mom and Mind Podcast
Hi friends, Colder nights are here in Santa Fe, which brings out some of my favorite things about this city: kiva fireplaces roaring with cedar, farolitas rising on our flat roofs, and warm posole with Christmas tamales. I will be honest that the lack of snow so far this year also brings up my ecodistress about climate change. It is an aspect of mothering we rarely name with one another or with...
Mother Juniper and the beginnings of ecoawakening
Hello friends, The first time I encountered the tree I would later call Mother Juniper, I was holding my infant daughter in one arm and the silence of exhaustion in the other. The juniper stood on a wind-scoured ridge—weathered, twisted, rooted in rock. She did not speak or soothe, but her presence steadied me. I traced her bark with one hand and held my daughter close with the other, and fo...
